autumn is coming (but it's ok)

I can't wait for chunky knits, cardigans with hoods, sunglasses and scarves, fingerless gloves, leaves, sunsets, crisp mornings,
tights with biker boots, being able to wear my cape and hopefully shooting some beautiful Autumn scenes; back home and in the city.

South of France (part deux)

As the summer seemingly draws to a close (last night was freezing!),
I'm reminiscing about lazy French days spent photographing bugs (one of my favourite past-times...)

Vintage at Goodwood - Best Outfits

I didn't make it the Vintage at Goodwood Festival this weekend but have heard great things from people that went. I love the authenticity of these outfits, which is your favourite?

Vintage shirt, New Look boots, Topshop Skirt, vintage necklace (from Emmaus), Models Own nail polish

...so I took some pictures. My dog decided to help too.

My sister and I have been fighting over this shirt which used to belong to our mum in the 70s and 80s (we've come to an arrangement that we each get to have it for a month at a time). In contrast, the boots and skirt are brand new. I'm a big fan of New Look footwear and always seem to find exactly what i'm after (these little suede boots were completely what I had in mind on my 'need' list). The skirt was a veritable bargain at £5 in the dregs of the Topshop sale - I didn't think denim and lace could work but this totally does.

Oh, and I also put a few summery highlights in my hair just for a bit of a change. You can see them quite well in the first shot. Kinda a light brown/ reddy colour... I give it a week before I'm sick of them!

Murder on The Standon Express

Just when I thought this summer couldn't get any better, myself and 3 friends road-tripped to the small boutique festival Standon Calling. Having only been to bigger festivals in the past it made for quite a change going to something so small (I think about 3,000 people attended), but it definitely didn't impact upon the amount of fun to be had. With a theme of 'Murder on The Standon Express' there were fantastic costumes (think policeman, prisoners, detectives, CSI and lots of fabulous flapper girls), dance stages named Alcatraz, murder mysteries to be solved and extreme amounts of general shenanigans. Highlights included an excitable crowd going crazy to Metronomy on Friday night and Etienne de Crecy and his amazing light show headlining on Saturday.
I can now declare that i'm officially addicted to festivals. Next up, I am ridiculously excited to be taking pictures at BESTIVAL... didn't think that was going to happen. Hooray for the Best Summer Ever...

Blanche in the Brambles: New Collections

I posted a little while back about the shoot I did for Blanche in the Brambles, a luxury British faux-fur company. The website is now live and features their Fall collections, which will be found at Liberty and Fenwicks from mid-September.

What do you think of this hood, would you wear it? I think it's amazing!

South of France (part une)

Lots has happened in the world of Sparkles over the past week. I went straight from Secret Garden Party to the South of France and spent 5 days forgetting about the real world and recovering after my weekend of excess. The house was completely isolated, surrounded by fields of sunflowers and looked out across the Pyrenees (I know, right?). Upon arriving back in London on Saturday I then moved house, (yes, again) and now have 3 brand new lovely flatmates. Off to my third festival of the summer this Friday… Standon Calling here we come!
